Grilled Red Snapper Steaks with Papaya and Cilantro Lime Salsa

limesFresh red snapper or fresh halibut steaks are a wonderful way to keep things simple and delicious when preparing dinner for your family or friends. This is what you will need in order to make this dish.

Separate Bowl:

Make this first as it will need to marinate together in the refrigerator for one hour prior to grilling the fish.

1 purple onion cut into diced sized pieces

1 medium size papaya- ripe and cut into diced pieces

1/4 of a bunch of fresh cilantro and chopped coarsely

dash of salt

1/4 of a jalapeño with seeds or 1/2 jalapeño with out seeds and ribs diced

1 lime

1/4 tsp of chopped garlic

Fish:

4- medium size red snapper steaks (T&T Supermarkets)

olive oil for brushing on the fish about 2 tbsp.

Method:

In a bowl mix the rest of the ingredients, let refrigerate for 1 hour so that ingredients can marinate together. Serve salsa on the side or over top of the fish. Wash the 4 red snapper steaks under cold water and pat dry- then brush with olive oil and sprinkle with salt and pepper place on a BBQ or a grill pan in the oven at 350 degrees. Grill fish until it flakes about5 minutes per side depending on the thickness of the fish. We suggest that you serve it with fresh garden salad and rice pilaf. this recipe makes 4 servings.
